Hot or cold?

I was planning out my lunch strategy this morning and decided I had a hankering for peanut butter and jelly sandwich.  I knew I had a jar of peanut butter in my desk at work so I didn’t have to worry about that part, but I needed to bring some strawberry jam in…and bread of course.  But I got to thinking.  I couldn’t make my sandwich this morning because IEW…pre-made PB&J sandwich would result in a soggy mess 5 hours later and I’d wind up heaving at the mere thought of it, let alone the sight of it.  Since I already had the peanut butter at work I just had to package up my jam.  I retrieved it from the refrigerator and then went to the left over container cabinet to find a small size container.  I found one and then thought to myself, “self? you really must remember to put your lunch bag in the refrigerator at work because you can’t eat warm strawberry jam on a peanut butter sandwich.”  It’s totally a rule.  I guess I never realized how many things I’m picky about eating only if it’s hot or cold.  It got me thinking about all the other things I can’t stand to be one way or the other.  You tell me how you weigh in on these things too, I’m interested:

jam? COLD!

pasta? hot! never cold…ick…it totally leaves a bad aftertaste if it’s cold!

milk? cold! i can’t enjoy my cereal unless the milk is bordering on frozen, nor can i enjoy eating cookies and milk unless the milk is frigid! also nice is having a PB&J sandwich with an ice cold glass of milk…ugh…I think about milk and I get kidney stone pain!

pizza? hot!  as in…burn your mouth hot!!!

hot dog? HOT!  cold hot dogs are gross and probably a health hazard…as if hot dogs aren’t a health hazard to begin with

tomatoes? cold! (with salt)…I can not stand any type of dish requiring cooked slices/pieces of tomatoes, cooked tomatoes are icky (except tomato sauce, but then that’s not whole tomatoes, it’s esentially pureed)!

What am I missing?  I know there’s more food products that require a certain temperature to be considered an enjoyable experience.  I just can’t think right now…it’s totally my brain going into holiday mode already.

What about fruit? My husband has to have his apples and oranges in the fridge. He won’t eat them if they are sitting out on the counter. Grapes? Much better cold. And what about water? I can drink it lukewarm, with no ice. My hubby? Hell.no.

Jam: cold (which poses a problem if I get toast when I’m out to breakfast & all they have are those little singe-serving size packages that are in the holder on the table).

Pasta: either but it has to be the way the recipe was intended — as in always hot unless you mean pasta salad.

Milk: blech, no way is good. Even in my cereal, I pour it on (cold) but I never actually let any of it onto my spoon.

Pizza: hot. Period.

Hot dog: hot. It’s a HOT dog. So if I am at a BBQ, and I want one, mine must have come directly off the grill.

Tomatoes: I will eat these either way. I love tomatoes. LOVE.

There’s nothing WORSE than COLD EGGS.

Yeah, Mommabunny doesn’t even like them deviled. Maybe N-boo isn’t hers after all, ’cause she LOVES them that way!
